International High School Students' Photo Festival Exchange in Higashikawa 2025
2025/4/30
The Embassy of Japan in Luxembourg is proud to announce the call for participants for a photo contest in Japan for high school students.
The Higashikawa town in Hokkaido, known as “The Town of Photography”, is holding its annual international photo festival for high school students to promote international exchange among young people through photography, called ”International High School Students' Photo Festival Exchange”.
This year, the town will invite students from 15 countries and regions including Luxembourg to participate. From each country, one representative school (three students and one teacher) can visit Hokkaido to participate it.
In order to select students to participate in the contest in Higashikawa, the Embassy of Japan in Luxembourg will hold a national preliminary contest, with support from the FLPA (Fédération Luxembourgeoise de la Photographie Artistique).
Please apply the preliminary contest as following,
THEME: The theme of this year’s photo contest is "The Charm of Your Region".
WHO CAN ENTER: Students from the 4ème upwards to 1ère of high schools or equivalent educational institutions in Luxembourg.
APPLICATION: Apply via your High School / Lycée, as only one team (three students and one teacher) from each school can apply, by sending photos and the application form by e-mail to Coordinator (Embassy of Japan in Luxembourg).
DEADLINE: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025 (Luxembourg Time)
COORDINATOR FOR LUXEMBOURG: Culture Section of the Embassy of Japan in Luxembourg

You can see more details and rules at the guideline (PDF) and the site https://higashikawa-youth-fest.jp/
We are certain that such a cultural exchange is of great interest to the students of Luxembourg, and this festival is a wonderful chance.
Last year’s festival was a big success for Luxembourg. 7 high schools in Luxembourg applied the national preliminary contest and L'École Privée Sainte-Anne won the preliminary contest. Young talented students from the school visited Higashikawa town in August 2024 to participate in this festival and won the “Sponsor’s Choice Award of Excellence”. We look forward to receiving applications again!
Please reach out for any questions or inquiries, and best of luck and success to all participants!
